For me, people are
the most fascinating subjects to photograph, telling a story with an infinite variety of faces, expressions and emotions.
ABOUT
I am Matthias Hand, born in 1964 in Hannover, and have lived in Munich since 1984. With a background as a business economist in the international automotive industry, I look back on a successful career, which also led me to spend several years in Stockholm and London.
In the 1990s, I discovered my passion for photography. Since then, I have been a member of the BMW Group Photography Club and have realized numerous photography projects, including exhibitions. Some of my most significant works include:

-
1997: Scottish Highlands
-
1998: BMW Products
-
2001: "66 Degrees North" – A landscape photography tour through Lapland with BMW and Land Rover.
Since 2020, I have been spending a lot of time in the Provence, in the Luberon region, where I focus intensively on photography. My specialty is people photography using natural light. For me, people are the most fascinating subjects, their faces, expressions, and emotions tell a unique story. Using my mirrorless Nikon camera, I create artistic portraits – all without additional equipment or digital retouching.
In 2025, I will present my first solo exhibition titled Faces of the World at the Galerie chez Mechtild in Goult, Luberon. The exhibition will showcase impressive photographs from Bangladesh, Rajasthan, Oman, and Papua New Guinea.
