OMAN
Januay 2023
Oman is light-years away from neighboring Dubai – more traditional, quieter, and more relaxed. A country where growing prosperity and modernity in the capital, Muscat, contrast with the old-fashioned markets outside of Muscat, which feel like a time-travel journey to the 19th century.
Oman is full of photogenic faces and striking clothes.
The Friday market in Nizwa exudes the old-world charm of the Middle East. The entire scene, with a food market, a goat market, and a carpet market, is a step back in time. Ibra, 3 hours by car from Muscat, is a quiet, dusty little place where there is literally nothing to do or see until the weekly Wednesday market comes to life. Here, you are literally transported back to the 19th century – with old men selling rifles and traditional Omani knives.
